The Ballet of Water & Stone
Littlebig Family and Friends, Welcome, Welcome, Welcome.
We will begin assembling outside Rockford Chapel on the lawn at 10:40am, and then at the call of the Grandmother at approx. 11am we will enter Rockford and start our day together with a simple hand washing ceremony and proceed directly into the chapel for a 30-minute guided meditation led by Elder Raymond TeKorako Ruka. The title of the meditation: The Truth of Power.
On entering the front door, there will be a multi colored ribbon tied across the doorway. Participants are kindly asked to enter Rockford by lowering themselves under the ribbon in a symbolic gesture. Our simple act salutes the fact that humanity shares a common beginning. We are all born of a woman’s womb, and in Elder Raymond’s tradition when we are in spiritual training we must first begin that journey at the beginning and return to that sacred place in humility. In a sense, we are acknowledging our common heritage.
Elder Raymond’s first talk is called The Water and Stone People. His second talk titled 1+1=1, Completeness will be read. He writes: “My friends – here’s something new for you. My 2nd talk is just under 2 hours long, and what we do in NZ in instances like this is we have “helpers.” In this particular case our sister LJ Ratliff will support me. If you feel you may need to bring a cushion, pad or blanket to sit or lay on the floor, this is perfectly acceptable.
Please bring your own lunch and a dish to share for dinner. The village Yellow Springs is a short walk from Rockford and has lots of restaurants and a few delicatessens. Ancient Whispers will provide chips and snacks, bottled water and an assortment of teas. Rockford does not have a stove but it does have a microwave, coffee pot and urn for hot water.
Participants are welcome to bring their personal belongings, and food into the hall on arrival and use the restroom, but are asked to return to the outdoor assembly point as soon as possible.
We recommend that you bring comfortable indoor slippers or warm socks as shoes are not permitted to be worn inside the hall.
